Love Learning. Aim High. Trust God.

Lead Teacher - Miss Marshall

The study of languages prepares pupils to participate in a rapidly changing world in which work and other activities are increasingly carried out in languages other than English. Pupils use languages to communicate information responsibly and creatively. They learn how to employ languages to enable rapid access to ideas and experiences from a wide range of people, communities, and cultures. Increased capability in the use of languages promotes initiative and independent learning and encourages diversity in society.

At Hertford St Andrew School, we deliver the computing National Curriculum objectives through the Language Angels Scheme of learning. The excellent resources provided by this scheme ensures quality, impactful teaching in all classrooms, in speaking the target language (Spanish) through the use of authentic audio visual resources for teaching.

The Language Angels Progression Map shows how pupil foreign language learning across each of the key skills of SPEAKING, LISTENING, READING, WRITING and GRAMMAR progresses within each Language Angels Teaching Type. It also shows how the level of learning and progression of each pupil is increased as pupils move across each subsequently more challenging Language Angels Teaching Type from Early Language to Intermediate and on to Progressive. The Progression Map can be accessed by following this link:

Moreover, we encourage children to transfer our core Christian values of trust, love courage, resilience and forgiveness, promoting understanding, appreciation and valuing the language,  beliefs and customs of other cultures, whilst demonstrating the school vision, Love Learning. Aim High. Trust God.
