Year 5+6 - Oak

Welcome to Oak class for what is going to be an amazing year of learning, fun and lots of successes.

Year 6 enjoyed cooking at Sele School and produced a delicious, healthy cous-cous salad.

Sports Day was lots of fun and a day to remember! It was lovely to see the older children supporting the younger children.

An informative and enjoyable visit from the 'Fire Service' this morning.

Post SATs celebrations!

Wishing all of year 6 good luck in their SATs. You have worked hard for this and you will be amazing. We are proud of you!

Lots of flag waving and singing the national anthem at our Coronation party.

Welcome back to school for the start of a busy, exciting and very full final term.

We have lots of events to look forward to: we will be celebrating the coronation of King Charles lll, year 6 will be sitting their SATs tests, for which they have been studying hard,  of course our residential trip in June and our end of year performance (the title is a closely kept secret for now!). Then in July we shall be saying 'Goodbye!' to our year 6 pupils, which will be poignant moment, as they move on to new and greater challenges.

Please check our class page regularly for information and photographs of our learning.

Kindest regards

A morning in the woods - a great morning of friendship, team building, problem solving and togetherness in the woods.

Oak class Easter Crosses

World Book Day - The children dressed up in some fabulous costumes and enjoyed reading together.

Influenced by our English text 'Night of the Gargoyles' we created our own gargoyles out of clay.

Tree planting at Panshanger Park for the Queen Elizabeth ll memorial woodland. A wonderful experience - but oh the mud!!!

Oak class explored symmetrical and asymmetrical balances in gymnastics.

Oak Class Termly Curriculum Map

Welcome back to school for the start of an exciting, brand new year. We have lots of fun and challenging things to look forward to, in what will be a busy term. Amongst other things, we will be helping our environment by planting trees in Panshanger Park as part of the memorial wood for Elizabeth II, developing our tag rugby skills with Saracens and celebrating World Book Day.

Please check our class page regularly for information and photographs of our learning.

Happy new year to you all!

Our final finished Christmas cards. The children showed great resilience in getting the circuit to work and in decorating their cards.

Making electronic Christmas cards.

Monday 12th December: Please find attached some ideas for you to try on our snow day. Hopefully I will see you very soon. Enjoy your day.

Outdoor Learning Day: Fire and Ice. The weather was kind to us and we had a wonderful day investigating ice and making our own fires.

Museum Take-over Day: we took years 2, 3 and 4 with us to the museum and showed them around our well-being trail.

We visited Hertford Museum to set up our 'Take over the museum' day (with a focus on well being) next week.

Oak class have been getting to grips with negative numbers. We played a game to practise our skills.

Diwali is known as the Festival of Lights and it honours Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. Lamps are lit and windows and doors are left open to help Lakshmi find her way into people's homes. We enjoyed the online storytelling; finding all about Rama and Sita.

We have been fascinated by the journey of a banana from the plant to our shops - what a long and complicated process. We have been hypothesising what we think is happening in the photographs and asking questions that we would like to investigate.

It has been great fun brushing up on our cricket skills on a Friday.

We thoroughly enjoyed our well being workshop with the Flip Theatre. We learned about the 5 ways of well being.
