Love Learning. Aim High. Trust God.
Week 14: 13-17th July 2020
Hello Year 2,
I cannot believe we are at the end of the school year and you are now moving into Key Stage 2. I have absolutely loved being your teacher and feel so lucky that I had most of you in Year 1 as we have had lots of fun times together. You are a wonderful class who support each other so well and I am really proud of how you have handled the disruption this year, you should be proud of yourselves and each other too!
Now it is time for a new adventure! I can imagine some of you are feeling anxious about the thought of having different people in your class and who you might be with but rest assured that we have thought really carefully about how to mix the classes and how we group you. It may feel a little strange returning to a different class of children but you will soon adjust and it will be a new and exciting experience! You already know Mrs Bond and Mrs Marshall has been in to visit us and find out all about you; I have been chatting to them so that they know a little about you before you return and they are both excited to meet you properly!
I have attached your final suggested activity grid and the packs from Classroom Secrets, as always there is no pressure to complete every activity...only do what you can manage. If you have any concerns or worries you can still contact me on teacher@hertfordstandrew.herts.sch.uk. I am in class all week but I will get back to you as soon as I can.
You have been an absolute pleasure to teach! I will miss each and every one of you in September and look forward to seeing you next year and hearing all about your summer!
Enjoy your long holiday, stay safe and have loads of fun!
Lots of Love,
Mrs Terris
Hello Everyone,
I can’t quite believe that we are almost at the end of the school year. Most of you are back in school at some point during the week now so will be accessing the resources on the website on your days at home. Remember, there is no expectation to complete everything, these are suggested activities to keep your brain active and busy whilst you are at home…it is really important to have a happy and healthy mind!
For those of you who haven’t returned to school yet, we miss you lots and hope you are doing well at home. I am so pleased that the Government has said you can all come back to school in September, it has been such a long break for you all and it will be really good for you to get back into school.
Remember you can always contact me at teacher@hertfordstandrew.herts.sch.uk and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Keep smiling,
Mrs Terris 😊
Hey Year 2,
I hope you have had a great week and stayed safe in the sun, it was so hot! It has been great to see some of you back at school, I am missing the rest of you and hope you are ok.
I have uploaded the classroom secrets pack and a new grid of suggested activities for the week. Remember you can contact me if you need any support with the learning at teacher@hertfordstandrew.herts.sch.uk.
We have been singing lots of action rhymes to warm our brains at school, try this one and see what you think... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBttxAMxaXE. We had lots of fun trying to keep up!
Keep safe lovelies,
Mrs Terris x
Hi Lovelies!
I hope you are all doing well at home and that you have been able to meet up with some of your friends and family since the rules changed - at a safe distance of course!
From now on the learning set on the website is going to change a little as more children are returning to school. I will be using the packs uploaded for English and Maths in class so that we are all doing the same learning, and those of you that are in part time will be able to continue with the learning at home. I will continue to add a grid with other suggested activities that you can do; please don't feel pressured to complete all of these.
As always do not hesitate to contact me on teacher@hertfordstandrew.herts.sch.uk if you have any concerns or if you want to show me what you have been up to. I miss you all, we all wish we could have everyone back together but until that happens stay strong and keep being the amazing stars that you are!
Please stay safe in the sun this week. For those of you who are at school remember to put on sun cream before you come to school and bring in a sun hat and named water bottle.
Take care
Mrs Terris
The English and Maths learning is coming from www.classroomsecrets.co.uk, if you sign up for free as a parent you can access resources and lesson videos. Change the year group in the drop down menu on the left to select Year 2.
Hello Guys!
I hope you are all well at home and still being brilliant learners at home. I am really hoping we get to invite some of you back soon but we will have to watch this space and see what happens. I miss you lots!
We are going to keep trying to trap dragons this week! I hope you are still feeling brave. We made some dragon traps at school last week...I wonder if we will find one trapped in the morning?!
I hope you enjoy the activities I have suggested for you this week. Remember you can contact me at teacher@hertfordstandrew.herts.sch.uk, I have loved seeing what some of you have been up to.
Stay safe and keep smiling
Mrs Terris x
Hello Year 2,
Can you believe this is the ninth week of home learning? I miss you guys so much but you are all doing a super job, keep it up!
Remember the activities I post on the class page are only suggested activities and you are under no pressure to complete them all. I have a dangerous mission for you in English this week, I hope you are feeling brave...see the picture below!!
Keep doing a brilliant job at home and keep in touch with the email, I look forward to seeing some of your creations.
Take care,
Mrs Terris
Hi Year 2,
I hope you have all had a lovely time over half term! From tomorrow I will be back in school working each day with the children already attending and then next Monday some of Year 1 will return. There have been lots of changes at school to help us socially distance and I will upload some photos so that you can see what it will be like. I really hope that Year 2 will be invited back soon as I miss you all!
Each activity grid I upload to the website will be given to the children at school so I hope you have fun completing them with your family too. Remember you can contact me at teacher@hertfordstandrew.herts.sch.uk to show me what you have been up to or get in contact. I'm so proud of all the hard work you guys have been doing and the learning I have seen!
Have a great week
Take care,
Mrs Terris x
Hello my lovely Year 2 class,
I can't believe this is the last week of the half term and I haven't seen you...it feels very strange! It was so lovely to talk to some of your parents yesterday and to hear your voices in the background. I am missing you lots and hope that you are all doing well, I am so proud of how hard you have been working and what good learners you have been at home...it sounds like you have all been very busy!
This week is mental health awareness week with a focus on kindness matters. It is really important to think about our mental health, particularly at the moment when things are so different. Mental health is as important as physical health and it is really important to focus on keeping your brain healthy just like you keep your bodies healthy.
Remember you can email me any of the wonderful things you have been doing at teacher@hertfordstandrew.herts.sch.uk. I really hope I get to see or talk to you soon.
Take care and keep smiling,
Mrs Terris
Hi Year 2,
I hope you are all happy and well!
I have added your new learning to the website with links to the activities and helpful websites. Try and do a little reading, writing and maths each day.
Keep smiling, hopefully we will be back together again soon.
Take care,
Mrs Terris
Hello everyone,
I hope you have had a good week! It was lovely to hear from some of you through email last week and see what you have been up to.
I have added learning for Week 5 to the website. I hope you are enjoying the activities and having lots of fun at home. Remember that we are really proud of you and you are all super stars; show your families what great learners you are! Hopefully we will get good news about coming back to school soon, fingers crossed.
We would only have been at school for 4 days this week as Friday is a Bank Holiday to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE day which marked the end of World War 2. See what you can find out about it.
Remember you can get in touch at teacher@hertfordstandrew.herts.sch.uk.
We are missing you lots, keep smiling
Take care,
Mrs Terris x
PS: Phonics challenge: Remember how I am always telling you to proof read and edit your learning? Well I didn't do a very good job of proof reading my activity plan for this week. There are some words that sound the same but have different spellings and different meanings, I have used one in error - can you find it?
Here are some examples to help - wear/where, their/there/they're, weather/whether, here/hear.
Let me know if you find it!
Hi guys,
I hope you have had a lovely weekend and enjoyed the sunshine! Here is some more learning for you, try and complete as much as you can to keep busy but please don't worry if some of your parents are still working and it is too tricky to complete everything...do what you can.
Keep practising your reading, phonics, number bonds, times tables and counting skills. Remember in Maths to get your parents to ask you 'why' or 'how do you know' to test your understanding!
Remember you can now email me on teacher@hertfordstandrew.herts.sch.uk if you have any questions about the learning set, want to show me anything you have been doing or if you just want to say hi. I am missing you lots and it would be great to hear from you.
Take care and stay safe,
Mrs Terris xx
Hi Year 2,
Following on from my message yesterday (scroll down) here is your new learning for this week. I have attached the activities and some documents to help you. Have fun!
You can now email me at teacher@hertfordstandrew.herts.sch.uk. I look forward to seeing what you have done and all the fun things you have been up to!
Mrs Terris
Hello Everyone!
I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break and that you enjoyed some yummy chocolate. We had an Easter egg hunt which Charlotte and Thomas loved and we have all eaten a little too much chocolate! I hope you have continued to enjoy the sunshine. I can’t believe I haven’t seen you for over a month. I am missing you all lots and wish we could all be together learning at school, but we are doing a very important job by staying at home.
I will be adding new learning to our class page in the next couple of days so keep your eyes peeled. We have been chatting about ways we can keep in touch and that you can show us what you have been up to so look out for any important updates from Mr Jones!
In the meantime, keep practising your phonics using the book and sound mats I sent home and have a look at the BBC Bitesize lessons using the link below, just choose Year 1 and select an activity that interests you.
Love Mrs Terris xx

Hello Year 2,
Happy Easter Holidays!
School is closed now and teachers are taking their break. During the school holiday make sure you take time to relax and enjoy the sunshine as much as you can either at home or during your daily exercise. Remember to keep your distance from people you do not live with if you meet them on your walk!
There are lots of fun things you can do at home, see how many different things you can come up with - a race, a puzzle, some exercise, colouring, writing... so many different things to do! I would love to see a list of the ideas you come up with.
I miss seeing your cheerful smiles every day and look forward to catching up soon.
Look after yourself and your family.
Mrs Terris x
Hey Guys,
I have added some new learning for you to have a go at. We have been doing the Joe Wicks PE sessions at school with the few children that are still there and they love it. Give it a go!
Love from Mrs Terris xxx
Hi Year 2,
We hope you are all ok and that any of you who have been poorly are now feeling better, We have been into school this week and it has been so strange without you there, the classroom is very empty and we hope we get to fill it again soon. We hope you are enjoying the lovely sunshine, looking after each other at home and being super helpful to your parents...they need your help a lot at the moment, especially if they are working from home!
We miss you lots and can't wait to hear about what you have been up to when we get back to school. Take care, keep washing those hands and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Love from Mrs Terris, Mrs Taylor and Miss Romagnoli xxx
