Love Learning. Aim High. Trust God.
On Thursday 2nd February, a combination of 14 Year 5/6 children took part in the Hertford & Ware sports hall athletics competition at Wodson Park. Hertford St Andrew was one of five schools to take part in the small schools event.
There were a number of running events and field events for our young people to compete in and each and every person performed exceptionally well. Girls and boys were split into separate groups and it seemed that we managed to come either first or second in each of the running races. There were a number of team successes but special mention must go to our new sprint king, Maison, as well as the girls relay team for the expert change of baton in the final relay.
Due to such a commanding performance, the boys were gold medal winners (84 points) beating second place by just 4 points where our girls were rather more dominant, winning gold by a massive margin of 20 points over second place (96 points). This means that we have been invited back to race again this coming Thursday (9.2.17) against all other finalists from the partnership to see who will represent the partnership in the county finals.
A massive thank you to Mrs Garbutt who organised the event and ensured all things ran as smoothly as possible. Both Mrs Garbutt and I are particularly proud of the achievement of the children but especially the exemplary behaviour shown by all. It really was a pleasure to attend the event with such a positive group of young people and each and every one of them deserved to receive the gold medals for their effort.
