Year 5 and 6 were fortunate enough to be invited to an event titled 'The Joy of Reading' which was held at Hatfield University. We were addressed by the author Caroline Lawrence who writes well known children's books that are all based in the classics but with a recent focus on Roman Mysteries.
The children were told how an author uses a wide range of skills to approach a work of fiction and how with historical fiction it is vitally important to do the research. Caroline Lawrence also told the audience how successful authors wake up late, drink hot chocolate and watch films as a job! I have a feeling we may have a few St Andrew children who now aspire to be the authors of the future.
