  • Planetarium Visit!

Tue 07 Mar 2017 Miss Raw

Today the children were amazed to discover a planetarium had arrived in the hall! Mark from Bayfordbury then delivered exciting space expeditions for each year group. Year 2 were particularly amazed by their mission to Mars and around the planets in our Solar System.

Year 5 and Year 6 also met Chris, who shared with them a workshop on particles. Luke and Steven in Year 5 can explain what happened:

"Chris spoke about particles and played a game called 'Happy Families' with all the particles.

We made models of what we thought a particle looked like and how it behaved. We then showed these to the rest of the class and looked at the models they had made. To make the particles we could use googley eyes, baubles, pipe cleaners, pens, paper clips and glue.

    We made models of electodes."

  • World Book Day

Tue 07 Mar 2017 Mr Moore

Last Friday, Hertford St Andrews joined in the celebration of World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite characters from books that we have read. We had an amazing array of costumes and these were on full display in our celebration assembly. From Hermione Granger to Horrid Henry and Where’s Wally to Katniss Everdeen, all of the children looked fantastic in their costumes. Most pleasing is the reminder to us all how reading has become an integral part of our everyday approach to learning at Hertford St Andrew, with all of our young people showing a real passion to read. Thank you to all of our parents/carers who supported the event and we are already looking forward to next year’s World Book Day.

  • Gymnastic Fantastic!

Tue 07 Mar 2017 Mr Moore

Hertford St Andrew had the special opportunity to share in the success of one of our Year 6 pupils last week. Gloria Myalti has been participating in a gymnastics competition where she performed an intricate series of tumbles before a panel of judges. She performed to an exceptionally high standard and was awarded the gold medal which means she has won the regional preliminaries and has now progressed onto the national finals. Gloria thrilled us all by agreeing to perform her sequence in our celebration assembly and we were all totally amazed and impressed by the standard at which she performed. The finals are to be held on June 16th in Birmingham and we all wish Gloria the best of luck.
