The Showdown 4
Sixteen of our children have had the most amazing experience! They performed alongside many others schools and dance groups, in front of an audience of 60,000 people! We are exceptionally proud of the commitment they demonstrated to learning the routines and for their outstanding behaviour and enthusiasm they had on the day!
We are delighted to announce that Hertford St Andrew Primary School have achieved the School Games GOLD LEVEL Mark Award for the 2022/23 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Thank you to all the adults and children in school who have worked tirelessly to help us achieve our God award.
Today we celebrated our annual sports day with a carousel of sporting activities followed by individual races and relays. It was wonderful to see so many parents, friends and family at school, supporting the children in their efforts. After an exhausting morning, the winning team were announce. Congratulations to Arran who were our Hertford St Andrew 2023 Sports Day winners!
Well what an experience! The children who attended this year’s residential trip did amazingly well. They faced their fears and most definitely took themselves out of their comfort zones. Activities included the big swing, rifle shooting, abseiling, raft building (of course this included being capsized into the lake) the zip wire, the challenge course, archery, Cludeo and Capture the Flag. The food was delicious and the accommodation was newly built. It was a pleasure to observe our children being the best they can be by letting their light shine!
On Friday 24th February, a team of 20 year 5 and 6 children took part in a sportshall athletics competition at Wodson Park, Ware.
The children competed in both track and field events during the afternoon and showed great determination, effort and resilience. We waited nervously at the end of the competition to see how well we had done. When the results were announced we were delighted. Our girls team came second and were awarded silver medals whilst the boys team came a respectable 3rd and received bronze medals.
A huge congratulations to the whole team - you were amazing.
- We had a brilliant time at the pantomime in Welwyn Garden City, watching Treasure Island.
- Fun and Games in the snow while it lasted.
- We held our first live Nativity since 2019. It was wonderful to be able to invite the parents back into school and watch the Key Stage 1 and Early Years children dazzle us with their performance of 'Shine, Star Shine!' A huge well done to all the children and thank you to the amazing staff.
- Nursery class invited their parents in to class for a special Christmas Sing-a-long.
- We enjoyed a whole school Christmas dinner in the hall, complete with party hats and crackers (and terrible jokes!)
We are overjoyed with the support from the parents and wider community for our PTA's first Winter Warmer!
Today the children enjoyed the opportunity to play out in the snow. What a beautiful scene.
This morning in assembly, the Sports Crew presented medals to the children for the running challenge they were taking part in last half term. There were medals for the fastest runners but also for those making the most effort. Well done everyone!
