Today was the annual Christmas lunch and the whole school sat together to eat. Our support staff had worked hard all morning to prepare the hall complete with crackers. Meanwhile in class the children made hats and placemats. After pulling the crackers the staff served the children lunch and everyone tucked in.
As part of a 'Dragons' Den' style competition some of our Year 6 pupils are involved in, they were tasked with raising as much money as possible for a local charity: The North and East Hertfordshire Hospitals' Charity. With only a small budget of £50, the team decided that the best way of making money was to host a Xmas market in the school hall. Their initial target was to raise £250 but thanks to the incredible generosity of the community and local businesses (Tescos donated hundreds of pounds worth of goods to sell), the total amount raised was just under £700! The Junior Dragons worked incredibly hard to plan and set it all up and their Year 5 and 6 classmates were also very helpful in helping them make posters to advertise it and setting up the hall for the big event. All in all, it was a fun-filled Xmas bonanza enjoyed by us all! Well done Dragons!
On Friday 7th December children from Years 5 and 6 went to a sports festival at Wodson Park. They were able to try a number of sports, many for the first time. A good time was had by all and some discovered talents that they did not know they had!
