On Thursday morning, a team of 20 children from years 4, 5 and 6, took part in an exciting tag rugby festival at Hertford Rugby Club. The teams performed brilliantly, demonstrating great skill, determination and resilience in all of their matches.
A great morning of sport was had by all. Well done Hertford St Andrew
Today our Worship and Wellbeing Ambassadors had the special job of 'planting' our Remembrance Rocks in the courtyard garden. They will surround a rose called Remembrance and a carnation plant and we hope to add poppy seeds to have real poppies too. We think the display is a fitting tribute to the soldiers and the children worked thoughtfully to create their Rocks before bringing them to our Remembrance assembly earlier this week, where we watched a video about the poppy display at Hertford Castle which the children made poppies for during the Summer term.
This afternoon, a team of 6 enthusiastic basketballers took part in an action packed afternoon at Presdales School, Ware. The competition was tough and involved teams from both small and medium schools.
We kicked off the afternoon with an impressive win against Bayford School followed by an unfortunate loss to Sacred Heart. One more win against St John the Baptist took us through to the semi-final of the runners up. The semi was fast and furious and Saint Andrew’s School from Stanstead Abbotts were worthy opponents. After a tough battle, we were victorious taking us in to the final against Able Smith. This time however, our skills and enthusiasm were not quite enough resulting in us losing the game.
This you might think is the end of our report but you would be wrong!
Much to our delight, when the final results were announced, Hertford St Andrew had won the cup for the small schools.
Congratulations to everyone in the team.
Last week the netball team were excited to play their very first match which was against Bayford Primary School.
Right from the start the team worked incredibly hard with their throwing, catching, marking and footwork all coming together. Harry proved hard to mark as he made his way around the court intercepting most balls from the opposition. Wasting no time with a speedy pass to Lexie, to Krystal, to Kihanna and back to Lexie we soon found that we were in a position to score. The ball flew up out of Lexie’s hands and dropped neatly into the net; 1-0 to us! A little more relaxed, the team continued their hard work and between our shooters, Lexie and Kihanna, we amazingly scored another 4 goals.
Defending from Francesco, Autumn and Goal Keeper Praise prevented the opposition from scoring. Our year 4 substitute, Aimee, did really well supporting the attack.
A massive well done to all of the team.
A huge thank you to Mrs Ambler for preparing snacks and drinks for both the football and netball teams.
