Year 4/5 Ash class

Welcome to Ash class for what is going to be an amazing year of learning, fun and lots of successes.

What fun we had on the climbing wall at Sele School. Some of us scrambled to the top, without a worry. Others of us were a little tentative. A few were very unsure. But we all persevered and everyone had a go!

On our river walk we noticed that people live on the river in long boats. There were allotments beside the river. We saw a commorant eat a fish and then it flapped its wings like it was doing a dance.

River trip - we had a wonderful day visiting Hertford museum and finding out about our river town. We compared maps from different historical periods. The castle was the main feature on the oldest map. Now Hertford has grown substantially around it. The river was used to transport goods and the 'New River' was very straight to make shipping goods quicker. After luch (and a visit to the park) we went on a river walk, saw lots of interesting sight and loved doing a bug hunt.

So we are now in the summer term and we are looking forward to lots of interesting and creative learning. We have 'International week', 'Arts week' and 'Healthy Living week' to look forward to, as well as a trip to the Hertford museum to support our leaning about rivers. Then of course Sports day is later in the term, before we bid our year 6 friends goodbye, as they move on to their secondary school adventure.

This term, Ash class have enjoyed reading with year 1
