PSHCE and RSE

This area of our curriculum is under consultation following new guidelines from the DfE.
If you are a parent of a child in school, you will have received an invitation to complete our survey. Please contact the Office if you would like that link. You are also welcome to meet with the Headteacher. Please make an appointment at the Office.

This area of the curriculum is crucially important for children's personal development. It supports our children to live healthy lives and to thrive in their world - now and in the future. It empowers all children to understand themselves, others and their relationships. It promotes safe choices in daily life. It follows DfE guidance, is informed by Church of England advice and, most importantly, is written and adapted just for our children at HSA. As with all we do, we are meeting our children where they are.

It covers a lot of curriculum areas.

PSHCE: Personal Social Health Citizenship Education

HSA Way: our values and behaviour curriculum

RSE: Relationships and Sex Education

British Values: We promote the values of tolerance, mutual respect, democracy, the rule of law and individual liberty.

It also incorporates these legal frameworks:

Keeping Children Safe in Education

The SEND Code of Practice

The 2010 Equality Act

It is taught in PSHCE lessons and in whole school worship and through day to day practice in school.

Please read our key documents. The Curriculum Map is a summary of what we teach.

The full programme of study is in the RSE (including PSHCE) Policy.
