It is our intent that we make music an enjoyable learning experience. We encourage children to participate in musical experiences to build up the confidence of all children. Our teaching focusses on developing the children’s ability to understand musical terminology and features. In this way children can understand rhythm, follow a beat and explore the structure and organisation of music. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to develop their musical potential and we aim to nurture and encourage musical development across the school. We follow the "Sing Up" scheme.

Singing

Our weekly Singing Worship allow the children to use their voices and practise songs linked to our school year, Church calendar and Christian values.

Children in KS2 can join our school choir. The choir has many opportunities for public performance during the school year.

All children in EYFS/KS1 sing every day in 10 for 10 music.

Learning instruments

Children in KS2 learn an instrument in 10 for 10 music and practise daily. They perform regularly.

We work with Herts Music Service to provide more opportunities for children to learn instruments with specialist teachers.

Our local music centre is the Hertford and Ware Music Centre and is located at Simon Balle School in Hertford.
