The Department for Education states that:
Schools should promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
At Hertford St Andrew we ensure that all pupils have a voice that is listened to through our school council representatives.
Each year all children have the opportunity to stand and vote for, through a democratic process, two school council representatives in their class.
The school council representatives then meet to discuss issues and ideas to support learning at Hertford St Andrew.
This year the school council have helped to develop:
- The school E-safety rules;
- The new school website.
What did we do last term?
School Council have met to finalise the role of RE Ambassadors in Year 5, creating a job description for the children.
They have also provided feedback on the lessons they enjoy and activities they would like to do more of.
